FAQs
Answers you didn’t know you needed.
What are stablecoin payouts?
USDC-funded payouts allow businesses to use USDC to fund global fiat payouts. USDC is converted to USD when it reaches Nium, and payouts are then sent through Nium’s existing payment network to recipients in local currency. This gives businesses holding stablecoin a faster way to fund use cases such as contractor payments, creator payouts, marketplace disbursements, and cross-border payroll.
How does Nium's stablecoin payout API work?
Nium’s USDC payouts API enables businesses to use USDC as a funding source for global fiat payouts. USDC received through Nium is converted into USD and made available for disbursement through Nium’s existing payout network. This allows businesses to put USDC-held capital to work for cross-border payments while beneficiaries continue to receive funds in local currency.
Which stablecoins does Nium support?
Nium currently supports USDC for stablecoin payouts. USDC enables businesses to make digital dollar payouts and support stablecoin cross-border payments through supported blockchain networks and payout corridors. Availability may vary by market, use case, and regulatory requirements.
How fast are stablecoin payouts with Nium?
Stablecoin payouts can settle in minutes, with near-instant movement on supported blockchain networks. This can help businesses move funds faster than traditional wires, especially for cross-border payouts that would otherwise depend on banking hours, cut-off times, or intermediary banks. Actual delivery times may vary depending on payout method, destination market, compliance checks, and the recipient's chosen form of withdrawal.
Are stablecoin payouts compliant with local regulations?
Nium's stablecoin payout infrastructure is designed in accordance with applicable local regulations. Compliance requirements vary by market, payout corridor, customer profile, and use case. Nium applies relevant onboarding, screening, transaction monitoring, and regulatory controls to all supported stablecoin payout flows.
How do stablecoin payouts compare to traditional wire transfers?
Traditional wire transfers can be slower, more expensive, and dependent on banking hours, intermediary banks, and prefunded accounts. Stablecoin cross-border payments use digital dollar payout rails to move value faster and with greater flexibility. With Nium, businesses can use stablecoin payment rails alongside local fiat payout options, helping reduce settlement delays, improve capital efficiency, and simplify global payment operations.
Which blockchain networks does Nium support?
USDC funding is currently supported on Solana, Stellar, Ethereum, Base, and Polygon, with support for additional networks continuing to expand.
Does Nium custody stablecoin on behalf of clients?
Nium does not custody stablecoin assets on behalf of clients. Stablecoin funding flows through regulated infrastructure partners, and Nium acts as the payment orchestrator — managing conversion, payout routing, and delivery. Clients interact with Nium's APIs as normal, without needing to manage wallets or digital asset custody directly.
Please note that Nium’s USDC funding and payout products are subject to jurisdictional restrictions, and is currently not available in Hong Kong.
